Lisa: Free Rice
If you enjoy...
a) Word games
b) The self-satisfaction that comes with having a higher vocabulary level than other people
c) Wasting time at work
d) Ending world hunger
e) Flashbacks to the ever-increasing-difficulty structure of the GRE exam
OR
f) All of the above
...then you should go play FreeRice. They give 20 grains of rice to the UN World Food Program for every word you get right.
(Thanks, Shifted Librarian!)

Posted by: stacie on December 20, 2007 02:56 PMThis is why I'm glad I was heavily medicated when I took the GRE. I'd had hernia surgery week earlier, and was pretty high on painkillers . . . so I lacked the presence-of-mind to *notice* (much less care) when the questions got harder. Instead, I just answered whatever question they asked (and did very well on the test, thank you very much).
Now I try get high before every test, but since I no longer have prescription drugs, I have to sniff paint. Unfortunately, it's not nearly as effective . . . I've sniffed the walls of our living room for *hours* and never achieved the slightest buzz -- and I know they're well painted . . . we put at least two or three coats on, about 4 years ago -- and nothing has happened to remove them.
